Who can use Third Desk

You must be at least 16 years old. If you create an account, you agree to give accurate information, keep your sign-in secure, and take responsibility for what happens under your account.

What the service is, and isn’t

Third Desk is an informational directory built from public data and community contributions. We are not a café, a coworking space or a party to any visit or purchase you make. Laptop rules, time limits, Wi-Fi, opening hours, prices and everything else come from contributors and third parties, and may be out of date or wrong. Every listing shows when it was last checked; treat older ones with care, and confirm anything that matters before you go.

Wi-Fi passwords are shared by contributors for the convenience of other visitors. Use them only as the venue allows, and only while you are a customer there.

Your contributions

When you add a place, suggest an edit, check in, report a problem or share a Wi-Fi password, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. You grant Third Desk a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, publish and display that content as part of the directory and to promote the service. Contributions are moderated: we may review, edit, reject or remove any submission, and it stays pending until approved.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• submit false, misleading, spam or promotional listings, or content you have no right to share;
• use the service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe anyone’s rights;
• scrape, harvest, crawl or bulk-download the directory by any means, including through our pages, page source, structured data, map data or any interface, reproduce a substantial part of it elsewhere, use it to build or train another directory, dataset or model, or place unreasonable load on our systems or circumvent rate limits or other protections. Search engines and assistants may index our pages and quote individual listings with a link back; that is not bulk extraction and we welcome it;
• attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service.

Intellectual property and database rights

The Third Desk name, logo, and the design and compilation of the directory belong to us. The directory itself, meaning the selection, verification and arrangement of places, their laptop rules, Wi-Fi, outlets, hours, summaries and notes, is a database in which we have invested substantially in obtaining, verifying and presenting the contents. It is protected by copyright in the compilation and, in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and other jurisdictions that recognise it, by the sui generis database right. Extracting or re-using all or a substantial part of it, or repeatedly and systematically extracting insubstantial parts, without our written permission is not allowed.

What you can do without asking: link to any page, quote an individual listing with attribution to Third Desk and a link, and use the service as a visitor. If you would like to license the data for something bigger, get in touch. These terms don’t transfer any of our intellectual property to you, and the licence to your own contributions is described above.

Photos and some place details come from Google Maps and its contributors, and the map from OpenStreetMap contributors and CARTO, each under their own terms. They are shown here under those terms and are not ours to license onward.

Third-party services

The service uses Google sign-in, Google Maps data and CARTO map tiles. Your use of Google Maps features is subject to the Google Maps Platform terms. Any visit you make or anything you buy is between you and the venue, on its own terms.

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose. We don’t warrant that any listing or detail is correct or current, or that a venue will let you work there.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Third Desk will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on directory information, use of a shared Wi-Fi network, or your dealings with any venue. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Third Desk against claims and costs arising from your contributions or your breach of these terms.

Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or to protect the service and its users.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to confirm], and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll change the date at the top, and continued use of the service means you accept the revised terms.
